Squid Game
We all know how Squid Game took over the world in 2021 with its intriguing plot and storyline. Basically, Squid Game was a survival game where poor and indigent people were targeted specifically and brought to play the game with a total of 456 players for the sake of winning the prize money i.e. 4.56 billion won.
As much as it sounds crazy, the players are not forced to play the game, where they literally have to fight for each other’s survival until one person is standing in the end. Various children’s games, especially Korean games that the players are most familiar with were used in Squid Game. As time goes by, we find out that some “VIPs” were betting on the players’ lives. A lot of questions are left unanswered at the end of the season.

Alice in Borderland
Alice in Borderland is a thriller survival game, similar to Squid Game, however, Alice in Borderland has a vibe of fantasy elements to it too. The main character Arisu (sounds like Alice when pronounced in Japanese) finds himself with his two friends all alone in the emptied street of Tokyo, and now, they have to participate in a game to survive and get a ‘visa’ to stay there, or they die.
Alice in Borderland manages to keep us interested and craving for more each episode. It might be a bit gruesome for some, but it has a good storyline and characters who fit into the story well. Keep in mind, Alice in Borderland is based on the manga of the same name, by Haro Aso.
